Kennu is a private family memoir app. One person answers a question a week, by video, audio or text. A few invited relatives read those answers, reply to them, and add photographs. There is no public feed and no way to find a book you have not been invited to.
Only the members of your book, and access is enforced by the database rather than only by the app. People join by invitation; a reader has to be approved by the writer. An answer is not visible to readers until it is published.
We use a few companies to run the app, and they only handle what they need to:
Under their business terms, neither OpenAI nor Anthropic uses what we send to train their models. Data is stored in the United States.
Photographs, entries and replies can be deleted in the app by whoever added them. You can delete your whole account there too — Profile, then Delete account.
Deleting your account removes your sign-in and your access to the book. What you contributed stays, with your name on it — replies and photographs are part of someone's memoir and other people's memories are bound up in them, and a family's record of who said what shouldn't quietly empty out because somebody stopped using an app. Delete your own photographs or replies first if you would rather they went as well.
If you would rather your name came off everything too, email us and we will take care of it. So can we remove a whole book and its recordings.
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. If this policy changes we'll update the date above. Kennu is not intended for children to use.
